By Ramya Chinnadurai

April figures from GO TOKYO's 2025-data guide, with March rain and May clothing as the adjacent official notes, checked 15 October 2026.

GO TOKYO's April guide, using 2025 data, prints 11.2°C to 20.7°C and 154.5 mm of rain. The Tokyo with kids page already covers Metro age bands, Ueno Zoo prices and why Miraikan is shut. This note is that thermometer, the typical sakura window, and the 22 April 2027 reopening line.

GO TOKYO, Miraikan and Ueno Zoo were opened on 15 October 2026. 2027 hanami forecasts and named festival dates were not posted. 2026 zoo evening extensions are not rolled forward.

15.6°C, and a parka

The April guide is the table: average 15.6°C, high 20.7°C, low 11.2°C, 154.5 mm of rain, about the same rain as March. Windy days: scarves and a parka.

The weather page adds early-spring chill (coat or fleece) and May short sleeves. Layer. Annual charts on that page did not yield extractable March and May numbers, so they are not invented.

11.2°C at night is not the 6.5°C February average on the February page. It is also not May. Pack the parka. Do not pack as if this were Singapore.

First week of April, not a 2027 Tuesday

The sakura guide says Tokyo and Yokohama flowering tends to begin in the last days of March, full bloom in the first week of April, petals for about a week or two. That is a typical window, not a 2027 peak date. A 2026 forecast page stays 2026.

The April guide names Chiyoda, Ueno and Sumida cherry festivals without 2027 dates. Kameido Tenjin wisteria starts early to mid-April, festival through April. Meiji Jingu's spring grand festival is late April or early May, undated for 2027. Use the plants. Do not print a parade clock.

Ueno Zoo stays 09:30 to 17:00, closed Mondays, up to 6th grade free. One-hour extensions on 25, 26 and 29 April 2026 are last year's evenings.

Miraikan until the 22nd

Miraikan is closed 1 October 2026 to 22 April 2027, whole building. An April visit before the 23rd is a waterfront walk in Odaiba, not a science hall. The indoor science that is open is the National Museum of Nature and Science in Ueno: 09:00 to 17:00, high-school students and younger free, on the year-round page.

Tokyo Metro age bands do not change in April. Two toddlers still ride free with an adult. A third pays child fare.

A first April stay that holds: Ueno Zoo or the Nature and Science hall, a sakura walk in the typical first-week window, Miraikan only after the 22nd. Do not stack three outdoor parks on a 154.5 mm rain month.

What 20.7°C is not

20.7°C is the printed high, not a guarantee of a dry hanami picnic. 154.5 mm is the rain line. If the petals have dropped when you arrive, wisteria at Kameido is the April guide's next plant, still without a 2027 ticket.

If you have one free child (6th grade or under), Ueno Zoo is the free outdoor hour. If you have one free student ticket, the Nature and Science hall is the indoor hour. If you have a late-April date after the 22nd, check whether Miraikan is actually selling again before you write it into a printed day.

KidZania shifts stay on the year-round page. They do not become easier because the cherries are out. For fares, stay on Tokyo with kids.

Tokyo Metro still charges adult fare from age 12, except a 12-year-old still in elementary school. Child fare for ages 6 to 11 is half. Infants under 1 ride free. Count the toddlers on the platform before you tap three child tickets you do not need.

Toei child ordinary fares stay half. Tokyo Subway Ticket child prices on the year-round page were 500, 750 and 1,000 yen for 24, 48 and 72 hours. That pass does not care about sakura. It cares about how many days you will ride between Ueno and a shrine.

Ueno Zoo admission stays 600 yen general, 200 yen junior high, up to 6th grade free. Last ticket one hour before 17:00. A Monday holiday moves the closed day to Tuesday. Check that calendar if your hanami walk was going to end at the pandas.

Nature and Science last admission is 30 minutes before 17:00. High-school students and younger stay free. That is the 154.5 mm rain plan, not a second outdoor park.
