GO TOKYO's February guide prints a 6.5°C average, a 1.9°C low, and snow that falls only rarely. The Tokyo with kids page already covers Metro toddler rules, Ueno Zoo prices and KidZania shifts. This note is the winter thermometer, Setsubun, and the science museum that stays shut all month.
GO TOKYO, Miraikan and Ueno Zoo were opened on 15 October 2026. Plum-festival and kite-market 2027 dates were not posted. They are omitted.
6.5°C, dark by 16:30
The February guide, 2025 data, lists 12.0°C high, 1.9°C low, about 6.5°C average, about 6.5 mm of rain, low precipitation, a mix of sun and cloud. Layered clothes and sturdy shoes. Snow falls only rarely.
January is 11.6 / 2.6 / 6.6°C and 26.0 mm. March is 16.0 / 6.2 / 10.7°C and 153.0 mm. December's guide used 2024 data (13.2 / 3.8 / 8.1°C). Those years are not blended into one normal.
The winter guide says December to February averages 6 to 9°C, snow in January and February that rarely settles. The weather page adds twilight around 16:30 and air that rarely drops below 0°C. Pack a coat, scarf, gloves and a winter hat, which is the official winter list. Do not pack as if this were April's parka-and-scarf day on the April page.
3 February is the standing date
The winter guide says every year 3 February is Setsubun, with bean-throwing at Zojoji, Sensoji, Ookunitama-jinja and Kanda Myojin. The February guide says the beginning of February. No 2027 shrine timetable was posted. Come for the beans. Do not invent a start time.
Valentine's Day appears as chocolate-giving. Hatsuuma-sai, the Oji kite market, Kasai daffodils and plum festivals are named as February events without 2027 dates. Illuminations "through mid-February" sat on a 2020 best-times page. They are not dated here.
Miraikan is a closed month
The refurbishment notice shuts the entire museum from 1 October 2026 to 22 April 2027. February 2027 has no Miraikan morning. Odaiba is a waterfront in 6.5°C air. The indoor science that is open is the National Museum of Nature and Science in Ueno, high-school students and younger free.
Ueno Zoo stays 09:30 to 17:00, closed Mondays, up to 6th grade free. Year-end closures are 29 December to 1 January, not February. Check the live Monday calendar if a national holiday moves the closed day.
Metro toddler rules do not change. Two toddlers still ride free. A third pays.
A February day that holds: Ueno Zoo or the Nature and Science hall, Setsubun on the 3rd if you want beans, no Miraikan, home before the 16:30 twilight if small children are done.
What 1.9°C is for
1.9°C is the printed low, not a snow day. GO TOKYO will not give you settled snow. 6.5 mm is the printed rain, much drier than March's 153.0 mm. That is permission to walk, in a coat, not permission to skip the indoor ticket.
If you have one free child (6th grade or under), Ueno Zoo is still free. If you have one student, the Nature and Science hall is still free. If you have 3 February, pick one shrine from the winter guide and treat the rest as a walk.
Do not write a 2027 plum-festival date. Do not write Miraikan into February. For fares and KidZania, stay on Tokyo with kids.
The Nature and Science hall in Ueno stays 09:00 to 17:00, last admission 30 minutes before close, 630 yen for general and university students, high-school students and younger free. That is the February indoor plan the closed Miraikan used to be. Strollers still belong there more than they belong on a 16:30 twilight street.
KidZania Tokyo still runs two shifts on the year-round page. Book the earlier one in February. Twilight at 16:30 is a poor time to start a role-play city with a 6-year-old who has already been outside in 1.9°C air.
Tokyo Subway Ticket child prices stay 500, 750 and 1,000 yen. Two toddlers still ride free with an adult. A third pays. February does not add a winter concession. It adds a coat.
Ueno Zoo last ticket is still one hour before 17:00. In 6.5°C air that last hour is a heated house, not another outdoor loop. Leave time to reach the indoor halls before they start clearing visitors.
