New York in December with kids

The Rockefeller tree lighting is 2 December 2026. The Bronx Zoo is closed on Christmas Day. The New York with kids page already covers MTA height rules, AMNH child tickets and the winter zoo clock. This note is the 2026 holiday dates those official pages printed, and the hours they still had not.

Rockefeller Center, the Rockettes, Bryant Park, Bronx Zoo and AMNH were opened on 15 October 2026. NYCgo's weather URL failed, so no December °C is invented. Union Square market 2026 dates were not on an official city page.

2 December is a closed rink

Rockefeller Center prints the 2026 tree arriving 7 November and the lighting on 2 December. The rink guide, updated September 2026, says the rink and the Holiday Chalets are closed 1 and 2 December for that ceremony. Chalets otherwise run 6 November 2026 to 2 January 2027. The rink's season runs through 27 March 2027. Listed hours are 09:00 to midnight, and the ticket page says hours vary on holidays.

The same guide tells you not to overdress: jeans and a long-sleeved shirt are usually enough even in December, in layers you can peel off once you are moving. That is the only official December clothing sentence this page will use.

Tree public visiting hours still said "check back." Top of the Rock tickets include a tree viewing from 3 December 2026 to 2 January 2027. That add-on is a ticket, not a pavement promise.

Two rinks, one show

Radio City runs 4 November 2026 to 4 January 2027, 230 performances. Individual 24, 25 and 31 December times were not on that page.

Bryant Park rink is 28 October 2026 to 28 February 2027, daily including holidays, 08:00 to 22:00, and 08:00 to midnight from 19 November to 3 January. Under-14s need an adult. Santa's Corner is 14 to 18 December 2026, 10:00 to noon. The Holiday Shops header said 28 October 2026 to 3 January 2027, while leftover 2025 copy still sat on the same page. This guide uses the 2026 header and weekday hours, not a single close date.

Wollman Rink is October to April on the Conservancy page, with a weekday and weekend clock and no 2026 holiday exceptions printed.

16:30 at the zoo, shut on the 25th

Bronx Zoo from 1 November 2026 to March 2027 is 10:00 to 16:30, exhibits 16:00, last entry 45 minutes before close. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Children's Zoo and the monorail stay shut. Winter Wonderland starts 2 November 2026. The page tells you to dress in layers for cold outdoor animals and heated indoor halls.

AMNH is closed Christmas Day (and Thanksgiving). Standing hours 10:00 to 17:30. 24 December, 31 December and 1 January were not printed.

A December day that holds: Bryant Park in daylight, AMNH on a day that is not the 25th, the zoo before 16:00 on a day it is open, Rockefeller after 3 December if you want the tree without the lighting crowd. For April cherries, use New York in April.

What 25 December is not

25 December is not AMNH and it is not the Bronx Zoo. It is a park walk from 06:00 in Central Park, and a Bryant Park rink that says it stays open on holidays. It is not a reason to assume Rockefeller hours, because that page said they vary.

MTA's under-44-inch rule does not change. If you have one indoor ticket, buy AMNH before the 25th. If you have one skate, Bryant Park is the rink that printed holiday opening. If you have one show, the Rockettes season is dated even when the Christmas Day curtain time is not.

Do not invent a Union Square close date. Do not invent a December high. For fares and the standing museum rules, stay on New York with kids.

Central Park stays 06:00 to 01:00. Heckscher Playground restrooms stay 06:30 to 21:00 daily year-round on the Conservancy page. Wollman Rink's weekday 10:00 to 14:30 and weekend evening clock had no 2026 holiday exceptions printed. Treat it as open in the October to April season, then read the live ticket page.

The Conservancy's 2019 holiday article is tradition copy only. Columbus Circle "open daily throughout December" on that old note is not a 2026 date. Skip it.

NYSCI Friday community hours remain a reservation. They do not become a Christmas-week walk-up. Under-18s still need an adult there. If 25 December has closed AMNH, do not assume NYSCI is the substitute until you have a booked slot.
