Bangkok with children is a height problem before it is a temple problem. The BEM MRT sells a child token only if the child is 91 to 120 cm and not yet 15. Shorter than 90 cm, they ride free if you carry them through the gate. That one rule decides whether a hop from the hotel to Siam is a token queue or a lift-and-carry.

This page is a first-visit shortlist for Bangkok. Operator and TAT pages were opened on 14 October 2026. Where two official clocks disagreed, the figure is left out.

Tickets that match the child's height

BEM's card FAQ is blunt. Under 90 cm: no fare, but a guardian must carry the child through the automatic gate. A walking toddler who is still under that mark still needs to be picked up at the barrier. Ages not older than 14, counted to the birthday, who stand 91 to 120 cm pay half the adult token. Child tokens and discounted child cards are sold only at the ticket office. The machine will not invent that discount for you.

Do not paste that rule onto the BTS. Official Skytrain pages opened for this page list Adult, Student and Senior Rabbit cards. They do not print a standing child height band. Buy what the BTS desk actually sells.

TAT says BTS and MRT run 06:00 to 00:00, with possible extensions on days such as New Year. That is the window, not a reason to plan a 23:00 aquarium exit with a three-year-old.

Pushchairs on the MRT are common and tight. Stairs at interchange stations are why some families stay on one line for the Siam hop and walk the last mall corridor.

One indoor tank, not a mall crawl

SEA LIFE Bangkok sits on the basement floors of Siam Paragon, which is why families treat Siam station as the indoor day. The tickets page listed a child single from 799 baht online for ages 2 to 11, and 1,199 baht if you buy on site. Under 2s enter free. Terms add that no child under 15 enters without an adult aged 18 or over, and those children stay under adult control on site.

That is the whole morning. Do not add a second paid interior on the same ticket. The mall is air-conditioned walking, not a second attraction.

Official hours pages for SEA LIFE did not agree when we checked (one listed 10:00 to 20:00, another 10:00 to 19:00). A closing time here would be a guess. Read the operator page on the day.

TAT's older Sea Life listing of 600 and 500 baht also disagreed with the live ticket page. The operator figure is the one on this page.

Dream World if you want a park day

If someone wants rides rather than fish, TAT's Dream World page lists the park as open every day: 10:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday, 10:00 to 18:00 on weekends and holidays. Four zones sit on 160 rai: Dream World Plaza, Dream Garden, Fantasy Land and Adventure Land. TAT printed 1000.00 for a foreigner child and the same number for a foreigner adult. Treat that as the TAT listing, and confirm the desk before you travel across the city for it.

Dream World is not next to Siam. It is a separate day. Stacking it after SEA LIFE is how you lose the afternoon to traffic.

Monday and the museum clock

TAT's business-hours page is the city-wide museum rule: 09:00 to 16:00, closed Monday. Some houses also shut on public holidays. If Monday is your only indoor day, do not assume a gallery will be open. Department stores, on the same TAT page, run 10:00 to 22:00, which is a rain backup, not a plan.

A first Bangkok day that works: MRT or BTS to Siam, SEA LIFE if you have a child aged 2 to 11, a sit-down in the mall, an early supper. Leave the river boats and the palace terraces for a morning that starts before the heat builds. JMA climate normals for Bangkok Metropolis put April at a 30.8°C mean and September at 343.6 mm of rain. December is the dry, slightly cooler end of that table, at 27.4°C and 13.5 mm. Those are monthly normals, not a forecast.

If you are comparing city days, the Singapore with kids page is the other compact metro-and-aquarium plan in this set. Bangkok is the one where the child's height at the MRT gate is the first fact you need.

Questions

Do children ride the Bangkok MRT free?

On the BEM MRT, children shorter than 90 cm ride free if a guardian carries them through the gate. Ages 14 and under who are 91 to 120 cm tall pay half the adult token, and that child media is sold only at the ticket office. Official BTS pages opened for this page did not print a standing child height rule, so do not copy the MRT rule onto the Skytrain.

Is SEA LIFE Bangkok a morning or an evening plan?

It sits under Siam Paragon, so it pairs with a BTS hop to Siam rather than a temple circuit. Under 2s enter free. Ages 2 to 11 were listed from 799 baht online. Under 15s need an adult 18 or over. Official hours pages disagreed, so check the operator on the morning you go.

Are Bangkok museums open on Monday?

TAT's business-hours page says museums and art galleries are closed every Monday, with daily hours 09:00 to 16:00 when they are open. Some venues close on public holidays as well. Confirm the specific house before you cross town.
