Family prices from Salzburg.info, Haus der Natur, the zoo and the fortress, checked 13 October 2026.

TicketPriceNotes
Salzburg Card, child 6 to 15 (1 April to 31 October 2026)19 / 22.50 / 24.50 euros24 / 48 / 72 hours from first use. Adult 38 / 45 / 49 euros. Under 6s usually skip the card except sites that charge from age 4.
Haus der Natur, child 4 to 1510.50 eurosAdult 16 euros. Family 2 plus 2 at 48 euros. Daily 09:00 to 17:00, last admission 16:30. Pushchair max 110 x 65 cm.
Salzburg Zoo, child 4 to 147 eurosAdult 17 euros, youth 15 to 19 11 euros. Family 2 plus 1 at 39.50 euros, extra child 6.50 euros. In Anif / Hellbrunn.
Hohensalzburg Fortress, child 6 to 14 all-inclusive plus funicular7.30 eurosAdult 19.20 euros. Funicular about 1 minute, every 10 minutes. Footpath about 30 minutes, not for buggies.

Do not walk the fortress path with a buggy. Hohensalzburg's own ticket page times that footpath at about 30 minutes and says it is not suitable for buggies. The funicular takes about 1 minute and leaves every 10 minutes. That is the old-town decision you make before anyone is halfway up the rock. Salzburg.info, Haus der Natur, the zoo and the airport published the other figures. Those pages were opened on 13 October 2026.

Card prices for 1 April to 31 October 2026

The Salzburg Card price page for 1 April to 31 October 2026 listed adults at 38 euros for 24 hours, 45 euros for 48 hours and 49 euros for 72 hours. Children aged 6 to 15 were 19 euros, 22.50 euros and 24.50 euros for the same three durations. The clock starts at first use.

Under 6s usually skip the card because museums are free. The exceptions are Bible World, Haus der Natur, Hellbrunn, river cruises, the Toy Museum and the zoo, which charge from age 4. If your day is Haus der Natur plus the zoo, an under-6 still costs money at those doors even without a card.

Add the standalone tickets you will actually use before you buy 48 hours. Haus der Natur at 16 euros adult and 10.50 euros for a child aged 4 to 15, plus the zoo at 17 euros and 7 euros, already sits near a 24-hour card. The fortress all-inclusive with funicular is another 19.20 euros adult and 7.30 euros for a child aged 6 to 14. This page does not invent a "card always wins" line. It gives you the posted numbers.

What the FAQ includes, and the S-Bahn caveat

The card FAQ says the card includes one-time entry to listed attractions plus listed city buses. It also says public transport is free except S-railways / S-Bahn. The same FAQ mentions the S1 to Acharting. Treat the FAQ as the rule and check the live card page before you ride.

City buses in the listed set are the product you can count on. An S-Bahn hop is the product you verify that morning. Do not board an S-labelled train on a guess.

Haus der Natur and the 110 x 65 cm pushchair

Haus der Natur is open daily 09:00 to 17:00, until 16:00 on 24 December, closed on 25 December, last admission 16:30. Adults 16 euros, children aged 4 to 15 10.50 euros, family ticket for 2 adults plus 2 children 48 euros. Pushchairs may be no larger than 110 x 65 cm.

Measure the pushchair. A wide travel pram that exceeds 110 x 65 cm is a problem at the door, not at the hotel. Last admission at 16:30 against a 17:00 close is a thin window: do not treat a few minutes before 16:30 as a clever arrival.

The 2-plus-2 family ticket at 48 euros is the one to use when the household matches that shape. A child under 4 is outside the 10.50 euro child band on the page we opened; the card page is the one that talks about charges from age 4 at this museum. Check both if the child is not yet 4.

The zoo is in Anif, not behind the cathedral

Salzburg Zoo listed 17 euros for adults, 11 euros for youths aged 15 to 19, and 7 euros for children aged 4 to 14. The family ticket for 2 adults plus 1 child is 39.50 euros. Each extra child is 6.50 euros. Gates open daily from 09:00. The zoo is in Anif / Hellbrunn.

That location is the planning fact. Hellbrunn is a separate outing from the fortress rock. You do not "pop into the zoo" between a funicular ride and lunch in the old town. Budget the trip out and the trip back. The 2-plus-1 family ticket at 39.50 euros is cheaper than 17 plus 17 plus 7 when that is your household.

Hellbrunn itself is on the card's from-age-4 exception list. If you pair the gardens with the zoo, read both tickets.

Fortress by funicular, then Terminal 1 if you have a wait

Hohensalzburg tickets listed the child aged 6 to 14 all-inclusive ticket with the funicular at 7.30 euros and the adult at 19.20 euros. The funicular runs about 1 minute, every 10 minutes. The footpath is about 30 minutes and not suitable for buggies.

Buy the funicular bundle. Leave the path for a day without a buggy and with legs that want a climb. The child band starts at 6, which matches the card's child band and not the zoo's 4-to-14 band. A child who is 4 but not yet 6 is a different ticket conversation at the fortress than at the zoo.

Salzburg Airport has a Kids Area in Terminal 1. Use it on the way out, not as a reason to arrive early enough to miss last admission at Haus der Natur.

A first visit that stays on the posted rules: card only after you add the doors you will actually enter in the 1 April to 31 October 2026 season, Haus der Natur with the pushchair measured, zoo as the Hellbrunn day, fortress by funicular, S-Bahn only after you reread the FAQ. That is Salzburg with children, without inventing a city-centre zoo.

Questions

Does a child under 6 need a Salzburg Card?

Usually no, because museums are free. Bible World, Haus der Natur, Hellbrunn, river cruises, the Toy Museum and the zoo charge from age 4, so an under-6 still costs money at those doors. From age 6 to 15 the card was 19 / 22.50 / 24.50 euros for 24 / 48 / 72 hours in the 1 April to 31 October 2026 season.

Does the Salzburg Card cover every train?

It includes listed city buses and one-time entry to listed attractions. The FAQ says public transport is free except S-railways / S-Bahn. The same FAQ mentions the S1 to Acharting. Treat the FAQ as the rule and check the live card page before you ride.

Can you take a pushchair up to the fortress?

Use the funicular. It takes about 1 minute and runs every 10 minutes. The footpath takes about 30 minutes and is not suitable for buggies. The child 6 to 14 all-inclusive ticket with the funicular was 7.30 euros, the adult 19.20 euros.

Is the zoo in the old town?

No. Salzburg Zoo is in Anif / Hellbrunn. It opens daily from 09:00. Child 4 to 14 7 euros, youth 15 to 19 11 euros, adult 17 euros. Family 2 plus 1 39.50 euros, each extra child 6.50 euros.
