Prague in December with kids

December in Prague is a calendar of squares, not a reprint of the zoo ticket table. The Prague with kids page already covers free DPP travel under 15, zoo prices in CZK and the Children's Museum slots. This page is the 2026 market dates Prague City Tourism has actually published, and the zoo's 16:00 winter close.

prague.eu and Prague Zoo were opened on 14 October 2026. The tourism hub page still said 2026 and 2027 details would arrive in late November. Only dates already on the live events calendar are used. No official December temperature table appeared on prague.eu, so none is invented.

Four squares, three of them with hours

Prague City Tourism's markets list is the spine.

náměstí Míru: 20 November to 24 December 2026, 10:00 to 20:00. That is the earliest of the big ones, in Vinohrady, in front of St Ludmila. It is a neighbourhood walk more than a tourist crush.

náměstí Republiky: 25 November to 24 December 2026. The event page describes stalls facing V Celnici Street. It does not print hours on that English page. Do not invent them.

Wenceslas Square: 28 November 2026 to 6 January 2027, 10:00 to 22:00. That is the late one. It is also the one that runs past New Year.

Old Town Square: 28 November 2026 to 6 January 2027 on the same calendar. The English event page describes stalls, a tree and a daily programme. It does not print hours. This guide will not guess a closing time. If you go, read the Czech operator notice on the day.

Pick one square in daylight. A pushchair after 20:00 on Old Town is a crowd. Wenceslas until 22:00 is for older children who still want lights, not for a toddler bedtime.

One Sunday in Karlín

Karlín is 6 December 2026 only, 12:00 to 20:00, on Karlínské náměstí. Wooden nativity. Santa's mailbox for children. That is a Sunday outing, not a month of stalls. If you are not in the city that Sunday, skip it.

MINT Market in Holešovice (28 to 29 November) and Christmas Lemarket (11 to 13 December) are also on the official list. They are weekend fairs. Useful if those dates match. Not the main square plan.

The zoo at 16:00, and earlier on the 24th

Prague Zoo in November and December is 09:00 to 16:00. On 24 December the ticket offices, pavilions and shops close at 14:00. Visitors may stay until 16:00. Weekday north and south entrances close at 14:00. Main and Sklenářka stay until 15:30. Weekend and holiday entrances until 15:30. The children's tram is temporarily out of service.

That is a short outdoor day. Arrive at 09:00. Do not plan a second attraction after 15:00. The 60-hectare ticket prices stay on the year-round page. The clock is the December fact.

National Museum hours on that year-round page (10:00 to 18:00, free to 15 except the Children's Museum) are the indoor backup when the squares freeze. Confirm 24 and 25 December on the museum site. This page does not invent a holiday closure that was not on the zoo or calendar pages we opened.

A December day that holds: náměstí Míru in the afternoon if you want a calmer stall field, Wenceslas if you need the 22:00 lights, the zoo at opening on a dry morning, Karlín only on 6 December. Old Town without an invented closing time

Families will still walk Old Town Square. The calendar says it is there from 28 November 2026 to 6 January 2027. Without printed English hours, treat it as a daylight visit and leave when the child is done. Wenceslas, two streets away, is the one with a 22:00 close you can cite.

náměstí Míru is the square to use if you want stalls without the Old Town crush. 10:00 to 20:00, 20 November to 24 December. Vinohrady has trams. Under-15s still ride them free, as the year-round page says. Proof of age for 10-to-15-year-olds still applies in December.

The zoo cable car price (25 CZK) stays on the year-round page. In November and December you have less daylight to use it. The children's tram being out of service means you walk more of the 60 hectares. One geo-zone plus a sit-down is enough.

24 December at the zoo is a 14:00 desk close. If that is your only zoo day, be at the main gate at 09:00. Do not add a square of stalls afterwards. Go back to the hotel.
