CZK prices from DPP, Prague Zoo, the National Museum and Prague.eu, checked 13 October 2026.

TicketPriceNotes
DPP 24-hour / 72-hour ticket150 / 350 CZKUnder 15 free (ages 10 to 15 show proof of age). Singles 39 or 50 CZK. Fine 1200 CZK.
Prague Zoo, child 3 to 15250 CZK desk / 200 CZK e-ticketAdult 330 / 300 CZK. Under 3 free. Family 2+4 1000 / 850 CZK. One entry. Cable car 25 CZK.
National Museum, adult / Children's Museum360 CZK / 140 CZKFree to 15 except the Children's Museum. Children's Museum from age 4 with an adult, 90-minute slots.
Petrin Tower, ages 6 to 15170 CZKAdult 250 CZK. Under 5 free. Family 2+4 500 CZK. Under 15 with an adult 18+. October 09:00 to 18:00.

Children under 15 ride DPP trams, metro and buses at no charge, which is why a Prague week costs less on transport than most capitals. Ages 10 to 15 must carry proof of age. Adults buy a 24-hour ticket at 150 CZK or a 72-hour ticket at 350 CZK, or a single at 39 CZK or 50 CZK. The fine for riding without a valid ticket is 1200 CZK.

A first stay then splits into one hillside zoo day and one museum-and-tower day. Do not claim the Petrin funicular is running: DPP includes it on the time tickets, Prague.eu did not agree on service, and you should read both sites on the morning you go. Figures below are from DPP, Prague Zoo, the National Museum and Prague.eu, opened 13 October 2026.

A first afternoon that stays on one bank

Skip a river-crossing marathon on day one. Ride the metro (about 04:30 to midnight) to a single neighbourhood, walk, eat, stop. If the children are under 15, only the adults tap. If anyone is 10, 11, 12, 13 or 14, that child shows the proof of age when asked.

Put Petrin Tower on this shorter day, not on the zoo day. The tower is 58.70 metres with 299 steps. Prague.eu says under-15s go with an adult aged 18 or over. Under-5s enter free. Ages 6 to 15 pay 170 CZK. Adults pay 250 CZK. A family ticket for 2 adults plus 4 children is 500 CZK. October hours are 09:00 to 18:00.

Climb only if the child who will do 299 steps wants the climb. The funicular, if it happens to be running that day, is already inside the 24-hour or 72-hour ticket. If it is not running, you walk or you skip. Check DPP and Prague.eu that morning. Do not build the day on a carriage that may be out.

DPP tickets and the 1200 CZK fine

Under-15s are free. Everyone else needs paper or an app the inspector can read. The 24-hour product at 150 CZK is the usual adult answer for a zoo day plus a city evening. The 72-hour product at 350 CZK is the three-day answer. Singles at 39 CZK or 50 CZK are for a single hop. The 1200 CZK fine is the reason you do not shrug and board.

Metro hours of about 04:30 to midnight cover a family evening and do not cover a dawn departure unless you like a very early platform. Night trams exist as a network fact on the same welcome page, but the practical family window is still the metro day.

Zoo via bus 112

Prague Zoo sits on 60 hectares. Reach it on bus 112 from Nadrazi Holesovice. Desk prices: adult 330 CZK, child aged 3 to 15 250 CZK, under 3 free, family of 2 adults plus 4 children 1000 CZK. E-tickets cut those to 300, 200 and 850 CZK. You get one entry. The on-site cable car is 25 CZK.

Sixty hectares is a hill, a lunch and a sit-down. Buy the e-ticket the night before. Ride 112. Walk a fraction of the map. Spend 25 CZK on the cable car if legs have gone, then leave. The ticket will not let you come back in after you exit, so eat before you abandon the grounds.

This is the whole outdoor day. Petrin is a different hill. The National Museum is a different project. Stacking either of those after the zoo is how you teach children to dislike Prague.

National Museum and the pushchair rule

The National Museum is free to age 15, except the Children's Museum. The complex runs 10:00 to 18:00. An adult ticket is 360 CZK. That free-to-15 rule is the indoor counterpart of the DPP rule. The exception matters.

The Children's Museum in the New Building starts at age 4, requires an adult, costs 140 CZK, and uses 90-minute slots. Pushchairs are not allowed inside. If you are still in the pushchair years, this room is the wrong room. Use the wider complex, which remains free for the under-15s, or pick a different indoor hour.

Book the 90-minute slot if you have a child who is at least 4 and will actually use a children's museum. Do not add the tower on the same morning. 299 steps after a timed play room is a different kind of tired.

Prague with children is free transit under 15, one enormous zoo, and one museum that still charges 140 CZK for its children's room. The family that also insists on a guaranteed funicular has planned against a source conflict. The family that checks DPP and Prague.eu on the day, and climbs only if the steps are wanted, has the hill they came for.

Questions

Do children pay on Prague trams and metro?

Under-15s travel free on DPP. Ages 10 to 15 need proof of age. Adults use a single at 39 CZK or 50 CZK, or a 24-hour ticket at 150 CZK, or a 72-hour ticket at 350 CZK. The fine is 1200 CZK.

Is the Petrin funicular running?

DPP lists the funicular as included on the 24-hour and 72-hour tickets, but DPP and Prague.eu disagreed on whether it was operating. Check both sites on the morning you intend to ride. The tower itself has 299 steps.

Can you take a pushchair into the Children's Museum?

No. The Children's Museum in the New Building does not allow pushchairs inside. It is for ages 4 and over with an adult, costs 140 CZK, and uses 90-minute slots. The wider National Museum complex is free to age 15.

How do you reach Prague Zoo with children?

Take bus 112 from Nadrazi Holesovice. The grounds cover 60 hectares, so plan one entry (tickets are single-entry). The on-site cable car is 25 CZK. E-tickets are cheaper than the desk: 300 CZK adult and 200 CZK for ages 3 to 15.
