SL with one paying adultup to 6 children under 12 freeUnlimited under-7s also ride free with a ticketed passenger. Under 6s may not travel alone. Ages 6 to 19 discounted.

Visit Stockholm groups Junibacken, the Viking Museum, the Vasa, Skansen and Gröna Lund on Djurgården and calls that stretch walkable. Start there. The island already holds the children's story house, the open-air museum and a ferry ride you do not have to invent. SL, Skansen, Junibacken and Naturhistoriska published the figures on this page. Those sites were opened on 13 October 2026.

Adult Skansen prices move with the season, so they are left out. Buy the adult ticket on the live Skansen page the morning you go.

SL tickets that actually cover children

SL's travelling-with-children page stacks more than one rule. Unlimited children under 7 ride free with a ticketed passenger. Separately, up to 6 children under 12 ride free with one paying adult, all day, every day. Ages 6 to 19 pay a discounted fare when they are not inside those free bands. Children under 6 may not travel unaccompanied.

Read both free rules before you tap. One paying adult already covers up to 6 children under 12 for the whole day. Unlimited under-7s also ride free with any ticketed passenger. You do not need another product on top of those two lines.

Prams have their own line. On some buses, one passenger per pram may board free through the exit doors. That courtesy stops on buses 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6: a ticket is always required there. Metro, train and tram always need a ticket. If you are crossing to Djurgården on a tram, tap. Do not assume the pram door on a numbered inner-city bus will save you.

Skansen as the long outdoor loop

Skansen is the oldest open-air museum and sits on the same island. Children aged 0 to 15 enter free. They still need a complimentary ticket issued against an adult ticket. Children under 13 visit with an adult. The same ticket includes the Baltic Sea Science Center and Lill-Skansen. The aquarium is an extra purchase on site.

Treat Lill-Skansen as the small-farm hour for the younger children and the historic yards as the walk for everyone else. You do not owe the whole hill. The complimentary child ticket is the saving. The aquarium is optional, and it is the one add-on Skansen names on that prices page.

Because adult fares are seasonal, this page does not quote them. The child rule (0 to 15 free, complimentary ticket, under 13 with an adult) is the part that stays useful.

Junibacken is a slot, not a wander

Junibacken is written for ages 0 to 8. Hours when we checked: Monday to Friday 10:00 to 17:00, Saturday 09:00 to 17:00, Sunday 10:00 to 17:00. It closes on several Mondays in 2026 and on 24 and 25 December. Tickets start from 140 SEK. Under 2s are free and still need a ticket. Entry is a 30-minute slot.

Strollers stay outside. You can borrow a baby carrier against ID. That is a planning detail, not a surprise at the door: if you arrived with a sleeping toddler in a pram, you will be transferring them. The theatre is in Swedish. Pre-book it. Do not count on an English show.

Junibacken is the indoor hour that matches a preschooler. It is a poor add-on after a full Skansen loop. Pick one as the paid or slotted stop and let the other wait, or keep Junibacken short and walk to Skansen only if legs are still good.

Naturhistoriska when you want a hall, not a ticket fight

Naturhistoriska lists exhibitions at 0 SEK for ages 2 to 18 and 170 SEK for adults. Cosmonova is 100 SEK for ages 2 to 18 and 160 SEK for adults. The exhibition plus Cosmonova combo is 100 SEK for ages 2 to 18 and 260 SEK for adults. The museum is cashless.

Cosmonova has a minimum age of 2. Under 10s go in with an adult aged 18 or over. No strollers in the theatre. If the child is 1, skip the dome. If the child is 8, budget the 100 SEK combo rather than paying exhibition and dome as two thoughts.

This is the rain hall and the "we already did Djurgården" hall. It is not on the island cluster Visit Stockholm names, so it is a different ride. Use SL's under-12 rule on the way.

Keep the day on one island

A working shape: SL tickets sorted before you leave the hotel, then Djurgården. Junibacken in a 30-minute morning slot if you have someone aged 0 to 8, or Skansen if you want the farm and the open-air yards. Eat, sit, leave. The Viking Museum, the Vasa and Gröna Lund sit on that same walkable list. This page does not price them, because those figures were not in the sources above. If you add one, drop the other.

Naturhistoriska is the spare indoor plan, with exhibitions at 0 SEK from age 2 and Cosmonova only from age 2. That is the whole first visit. Stockholm rewards the family that stays on Djurgården and reads the SL child lines once.
