One day trips from Hyderabad with kids

For a day trip from Hyderabad with kids, Ramoji Film City is the only place here whose own page sets a child ticket rule, since its own FAQ says no entry ticket is needed below 33 inches of height and a child ticket applies from 33 to 54 inches. This guide gives the distances, hours and child rules that official pages state for seven places, and says which popular places and details we could not confirm.

Sourced 26 October 2026. We read each official page linked below on 26 October 2026. Distances are as the pages give them, from the starting point each page names, and we give no travel time or toll of our own. Hours and fees change, so confirm before you go.

How to choose a day trip with kids

  • Check what the distance is measured from. Ramoji Film City gives its distance from the airport, Golconda from a lake in the city, and the others from Hyderabad.
  • The child ticket. Ramoji Film City sets its child ticket by height, not age. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) FAQ says persons above the age of fifteen years need to pay an entrance fee at protected monuments.
  • Opening hours differ. Opening times on the pages run from 5:00 AM (the temple) to 10:00 AM (Warangal Fort), and closing times from 5:00 PM (Golconda Fort) to 9:00 PM (the temple), so check the closing time before you plan the return.
  • Rules at the gate. Ramoji Film City does not allow private cars into its main areas and runs guided bus tours inside. Its Sahas Adventure Park does not allow infants or very young children.

Private cars are not allowed in the main areas, and stroller rental is available. The FAQ gives no ticket prices, so we give noneRamoji Film City, FAQ, sourced 26 October 2026
Golconda FortThe Incredible India page places the fort in the western region of Hyderabad, only 9 km from Hussain Sagar Lake, and gives timings of 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM. It describes a light and sound show after sunset. The ASI list of centrally protected monuments names Golkonda Fort under the Hyderabad Circle, and the ASI FAQ says persons above the age of fifteen years need to pay an entrance fee at protected monuments. We could not read a ticket rate on an official pageIncredible India, Golconda Fort, ASI, protected monuments list, ASI FAQ, sourced 26 October 2026
Vikarabad and Anantagiri HillsTelangana Tourism says Vikarabad is about 70 kilometers from Hyderabad, in the hills of Anantagiri. It names trekking, picnicking and photography at Anantagiri Hills, rates the Anantagiri Hills trek as moderate, and lists hiking, trekking and birdwatching around the town. The page gives no hours and no feesTelangana Tourism, Vikarabad, sourced 26 October 2026
Bhongir FortThe Incredible India page says Bhongir, also called Bhuvanagiri, is a mere 50 km east of Hyderabad. It describes the fort on a monolithic rock, a 700-foot-tall hill with a 40-acre complex, says rock climbing is possible on the same rock face, and mentions a trekking tour organised by the tourism department. The nearest railway station it lists is Bhongir. The page gives no hours and no fees, and names Pochampally ikat weaving in the same district without a distanceIncredible India, Bhongir, sourced 26 October 2026
Warangal FortTelangana Tourism says Warangal is 150 km away from Hyderabad. The Incredible India page gives timings of 10:00 AM to 07:00 PM and describes a 50-minute sound and light show, with Telugu narration at 6:30 PM and English or Telugu at 7:30 PM. The ASI list names Warangal Fort, Defences and gateways under the Hyderabad Circle. Nagarjuna SagarThe Incredible India page gives timings of 09:00 AM to 06:00 PM and says the tourism department provides boating facilities, with cruises also available. For the route, it says about 165 kilometres from Hyderabad to Nalgonda, and that Nagarjuna Sagar is at a distance of 70 kilometres from Nalgonda. It says the Nagarjunakonda island is closed on Friday, and that the island is 45 minutes from the dam by motorboat or cruise. Timing the day from what the pages say

  • Ramoji Film City. The last Studio Tour entry is generally at 2:00 PM, so arrive early. The FAQ also says a single day gives a well-rounded experience and recommends at least two days.
  • Warangal. The two Warangal places are 150 km from Hyderabad on the Telangana Tourism page. We do not guess a travel time. Both sound and light shows start in the evening, so a visit that includes them ends late.
  • Nagarjuna Sagar. Avoid Friday if the island matters to you, because the page says it is closed that day.

Notes on the table

The distances use different starting points, so they do not rank the places. The ASI FAQ gives a national rule about persons above fifteen years, and the pages we read for each monument give no ticket rate. Telangana Tourism's home page also lists tour packages named Ramoji Film City, Nagarjuna Sagar and a Hyderabad, Warangal, Kakatiya and Ramappa heritage tour, and a Golconda Fort laser and multimedia show; we read only those names, so we give no package details or prices.

Places we could not confirm

We could not confirm these on an official page on 26 October 2026, so we say nothing about them: the Qutb Shahi Tombs, whose Telangana Tourism page showed us no text, Pochampally's distance, hours and fees, Ramoji Film City ticket prices, ticket rates at Golconda Fort, Warangal Fort and the Thousand Pillar Temple, and Anantagiri Hills and Bhongir Fort hours and fees. We could not read a ticket rate for these monuments on an ASI page. We give no toll amounts and no drive times.

Plan the trip

Ula, your AI travel companion, plans and books trips with your OK and remembers how you travel. It is in early access, and you can join the waitlist. The finder, the calculators and the packing list work without it.

What we left out

We left out a ranking of the places, drive times and tolls that no official page states, cab and train details, restaurant and parking advice, and any fee that an official page we read does not state.
