How the finder works
Each card summarises official pages that we read ourselves on 23 October 2026: state tourism boards, Incredible India, district sites and the Archaeological Survey of India. A card shows the distance the page states, the travel modes it names, the best months if it names any, and any child rule it states. If a page states none, the card says so rather than guessing.
The child age filter changes which child notes you see. It never hides a place that is not suitable, because we would rather show you the page's warning than leave the place out. The month filter keeps places whose page names your month as a best season, and keeps places whose page names no best months, labelled as such.
Distances and travel times
Official pages round their figures and disagree with each other. Mysuru is 160 km on one Karnataka Tourism page, and Matheran is 88, 90 or 91 km depending on which line of its Maharashtra Tourism page you read. A card shows the figure as an approximate road distance, and shows every figure when two official pages differ. For Chennai, the district pages we read give distances from the airport or the railhead, not the city centre, and the cards say so.
We show a travel time only where an official page states one, for example 35 to 50 minutes for Bannerghatta or about 3 hours for Mysuru. We never compute drive times, and we never measure a straight line on a map.

What we left out
We left out Lepakshi, because the official page we read gives no distance from Bengaluru, no hours and no fee. We left out festival dates, ticket prices that no official page lists, and any weather forecast. We left out train times, because we read no IRCTC or Indian Railways page for this tool.
Questions
Which cities and places does the weekend getaway finder cover?
Five home cities: Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Chennai. Each city has two or more places. We add a place only after we have read an official tourism, district or Archaeological Survey of India page for it. We checked every page on 23 October 2026.
Why do some places show a distance but no travel time?
We show a travel time only where an official page states one. We never compute drive times or measure straight lines on a map, because road time depends on traffic and the route. If a page gives a distance only, the card shows the distance only.
Why does a distance say about?
Official pages round their figures and sometimes disagree with each other. A card shows the figure the page gives, labelled as an approximate road distance, and shows both figures when two official pages differ. When a page gives a distance from an airport or station rather than the city, the card says so.
What does the month filter do?
It keeps places whose official page names a best season that includes your month. Places whose page names no best months stay in the list, with the label Official page states no best months, so you can still see them.
How does the child age filter work?
It shows a child rule only where an official page states one. Skandagiri's booking page says Not for children and counts participants above 12 years. The ASI page for Mahabalipuram says children below 15 enter free. A place with no rule on its page shows none.
Does the finder show ticket prices?
Only where the official page lists them, such as the Bannerghatta zoo ticket for children or Tipu's Summer Palace. Where an official page gives conflicting figures, as the Mysuru Palace page does for its entry fee, the card shows none and tells you to confirm at the gate.
Does the finder cover Hogenakkal or Lepakshi?
Hogenakkal Falls is in the Bengaluru list. Lepakshi is not, because the official page we read states no distance from Bengaluru, no hours and no fee. We keep a place out until a page gives us what a card needs.
Can Ula plan a weekend trip for my family?
Ula, your AI travel companion, plans and books trips with your OK and remembers how you travel. It is in early access, and you can join the waitlist. The finder works without it.
