Three days in Dubai is one day Downtown, one day on the Creek and one day between the Marina and the Palm, with a garden or desert morning as the fourth day if you have it. Every hour and fare below comes from RTA, Dubai Mall, SMCCU, Global Village, the attraction's own site or Khaleej Times reporting RTA, opened on 5 November 2026. The 2 day cut and the 4 day extension are in the table.

This page is the all-traveller plan for Dubai. Travelling with children? The Dubai with kids page holds the age bands and the LEGOLAND day instead. For picking dates read best time to visit, for a bed where to stay, for the money trip cost. The long list of sights is on things to do in Dubai.

Before day one: the card and the clock

Buy a Silver nol card at any metro station: AED 25 with AED 19 of credit loaded, per RTA's nol card page. A Red Ticket is AED 2 but is rechargeable for only 10 journeys, so it suits one ride. Fares on Silver are AED 3 within one zone, AED 5 across two adjacent zones and AED 7.50 for more, and a journey may run 180 minutes with up to 3 transfers. A 7-day all-zone pass is AED 110 if you will ride more than four times a day.

Stations open at 5:00am Monday to Saturday and close at midnight, except Friday when they run to 1:00am. Sunday opens at 8:00am. That Sunday start is the one scheduling trap in this plan.

From the airport, the Red Line has stations at Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. A taxi from DXB starts at AED 25 on the meter, per Khaleej Times reporting RTA's November 2025 fare changes.

Day 1: Downtown

Morning: Burj Khalifa. The official ticket site lists Silver, Levels 124 and 125, at AED 189, opening at 10:00am; confirm the price for your date and slot when booking. Book the first slot there, so the afternoon stays free for the mall.

Afternoon: Dubai Mall. Ride the Red Line to Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station. Eat inside, because the mall is where the air conditioning is.

Evening: the Dubai Fountain runs every 30 minutes from 6:00pm to 11:00pm on Burj Lake. The 1:00pm and 1:30pm shows (2:00pm and 2:30pm on Friday) are a daytime fallback. Watch two shows, then walk to Business Bay station rather than queueing at the mall station.

Day 2: the Creek and Jumeirah

Morning: Jumeirah Mosque at 10:00am. The SMCCU visit is AED 45 and runs every day except Friday at 10:00am and 2:00pm, so Day 2 must not be a Friday. Swap days 2 and 3 if it is.

Midday: Green Line to Al Ghubaiba for Al Fahidi and the textile souk on the Bur Dubai bank, then the AED 1 abra from Bur Dubai Abra Station across to Deira Old Souq. Walk through the spice and gold souks and leave from Gold Souq or Al Ras station. Change to the Red Line at Union or BurJuman.

Evening, October to May: Global Village opens at 4:00pm, AED 25 Monday to Thursday and AED 30 any day. Its plan your visit page says Tuesdays (except those falling on a public holiday) are exclusively reserved for families, couples and ladies. Outside the season, book the sunset slot at the Burj instead and give Day 1 a slower start.

Day 3: Marina and the Palm

Morning: Red Line to Sobha Realty, then the Dubai Tram, which links the metro to the Palm Monorail along Al Sufouh Road. The View at The Palm opens 9:00am to 7:00pm. Standard admission shows "from AED 80" and "from AED 115" on the official site without saying which is which, so budget the higher figure.

Afternoon: back down to the Marina. RTA's water taxi is AED 7 per stop around Marina Promenade, Dubai Marina Mall, Marina Walk and Marina Terrace. The beach at JBR is a walk from the tram.

Evening: dinner on the Marina walk, metro home from DMCC before midnight.

Day 4, if you have it

Dubai Miracle Garden is open 9:00am to 9:00pm from 8 October 2026 to 31 May 2027, AED 105 for adults. Pair it with the Dubai Frame, AED 50 for adults and open 8:00am to 9:00pm. The garden is shut in summer, so keep the Frame and spend the evening on a desert safari instead. Arabian Adventures, an Emirates Group company, lists its 6-hour evening safari from AED 649 per person with hotel pick-up, and says the price varies by vehicle and group size. Dubai trip cost keeps the safari outside the daily tiers.

The 2 day cut

Keep Day 1 whole. Compress Day 2 to the abra and the souks only, skipping the mosque, and spend the afternoon at the Marina with the water taxi. Drop the Palm.

What is not in this plan

The Museum of the Future closed in early September 2026 and reopens in the first quarter of 2027. No Abu Dhabi day, because it needs its own page. No brunch, because prices vary by hotel and none were sourced.

What travellers say

A first-timer posted four crowded days in Visiting for the first time, any opinions on this itinerary? (r/dubai, posted 2023, accessed 5 November 2026), and the replies agreed on one point: the city is large, getting between areas costs time and energy, and that list would fill two or three weeks more comfortably than four days. In Adu-Dhabi, Dubai itinerary planning suggestions and questions (r/travel, posted 2023, accessed 5 November 2026), replies put the Burj Khalifa, the aquarium and the fountain into a single Dubai Mall day, as Day 1 does, recommended a Silver nol card because the metro covers most sights, and suggested the souks and abra in the afternoon into evening, with the gold souk last for the lights. Paraphrased, nothing embedded.

Ask Hey Ula to re-cut this for your arrival time and the days of the week you actually hold.

Questions

Is 3 days enough for Dubai?

Yes for the three core zones: Downtown, the Creek and the Marina with the Palm. A fourth day adds the Frame and Miracle Garden or a desert morning. Two days means dropping the mosque visit and the Palm.

Which day should not be a Friday?

Day 2. The Jumeirah Mosque visit runs every day except Friday, at 10:00am and 2:00pm. Fountain afternoon shows also shift to 2:00pm and 2:30pm on Friday. Swap Day 2 and Day 3 if your Day 2 lands on a Friday.

Do I need a nol card for 3 days?

Yes. A Silver card is AED 25 with AED 19 loaded and rides are AED 3 to 7.50 by zones. Red Tickets are AED 2 and only rechargeable for 10 journeys, so they suit a single ride, not three days.

What time should I book the Burj Khalifa?

The first slot after the 10:00am opening, so the rest of Day 1 stays free for the mall and the fountain. The official ticket site lists Silver, for Levels 124 and 125, at AED 189 with last entry at 8:15pm, checked 5 November 2026. Confirm the price for your date and slot when booking, and buy there rather than from a reseller.

Can I add Abu Dhabi to a 3 day Dubai itinerary?

Not without losing a Dubai day. This plan keeps all three days in Dubai. A 4 day version is better spent on the Frame and the garden or a desert morning; Abu Dhabi is a separate page.

Is the Museum of the Future in this itinerary?

No. It closed at the beginning of September 2026 and is set to reopen in the first quarter of 2027. Add it to Day 1 only once it is selling tickets again.
