Maldives trip cost
Maldives trip cost from India for a family
The Maldives trip cost for a family is the sum of lines you price yourself, and the fixed figures we could confirm on an official page are the departure tax and the airport development fee, each USD 50 per foreign passenger in economy. This guide gives the entry rules the Maldives authorities state, those charges in USD as published, a budget sheet with a formula for every line and a blank cell for your own number, and a list of what we could not confirm.
Sourced 27 October 2026. We read each official page linked below on 27 October 2026. Figures are in US dollars (USD) exactly as the pages give them, and we do not convert them to Indian rupees, because we have no dated official exchange rate to cite. Fees change, so confirm before you pay.

Entry: visa on arrival
Maldives Immigration says a tourist visa is granted on arrival and foreign tourists do not need pre-approval. The Velana International Airport arrival guide says tourist visas are granted on arrival to the Maldives for all nationalities. The immigration page lists what you need:
- Passport. A passport with a Machine-Readable Zone (MRZ) and at least 1 month's validity.
- Return ticket. Confirmed return journey tickets.
- Where you stay. A prepaid confirmed booking at a registered facility.
- Funds. Sufficient funds to cover the stay. The page states no amount.
The immigration page does not state a number of days for the tourist visa, and we could not open the Maldives mission page that other sites quote, so we state none. Our visa-free finder shows the days the Ministry of External Affairs table lists.
The IMUGA traveller declaration, for every child too
Maldives Immigration says each traveller, including children and minors, must submit an individual Traveller Declaration, within 96 hours before arrival, and that submission is free of charge. The IMUGA portal describes it as a mandatory declaration form within 96 hours of arrival or departure. Fill one in for each person in the family.
Departure tax and airport development fee
The President's Office announced on 5 November 2024 new departure charges from 1 December 2024. For foreign passengers it lists:
| Class | Departure tax | Airport development fee |
|---|---|---|
| Economy | USD 50 | USD 50 |
| Business | USD 120 | USD 120 |
| First | USD 240 | USD 240 |
| Private jet | USD 480 | USD 480 |
The announcement says the airport development fee is charged at the same amounts as the departure tax. It does not say how the charges are collected or whether infants are exempt, and we could not open the tax authority's FAQ, so check the fare breakdown when you book.

Green Tax and other taxes
The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) publishes the Green Tax and the tourism goods and services tax. Every MIRA page we tried returned an error on 27 October 2026, so we give no Green Tax rate, no child exemption and no tax percentage. Check the current rates on the MIRA site or ask your hotel to show them on the quote.
Maldives trip cost from India: the budget sheet

How to price each line
- Flights. We state no route and no fare. We could not load the IndiGo or Air India pages on 27 October 2026, so check the airline sites for current routes.
- Resort or guesthouse. Where you stay sets the biggest lines: the room, the meal plan and the transfer. Ask each property for a quote that shows taxes and transfers separately.
- Transfers. Seaplane and speedboat transfers are priced by each resort. We could not open an operator or resort price list on 27 October 2026, so we give no transfer figures.
- Coming home. Bringing back shopping? Check your allowance with the customs duty-free allowance calculator.

Places we could not confirm
We could not confirm these on an official page on 27 October 2026, so we say nothing about them: the number of days on a tourist visa for Indian nationals, the Green Tax rate and its child exemption, the tourism goods and services tax rate, whether infants pay the departure charges, seaplane and speedboat transfer prices, flight routes from any Indian city, any fare, consent rules for a child travelling with one parent, and any rupee equivalent of a USD price.

What we left out
We left out totals and ranges, rupee conversions, a resort or flight recommendation, and any fee, fare or price that an official page we read does not state.
